Digital Therapeutics
As Art Director at Akili Interactive, I lead the visual and audio direction across all products, ensuring a cohesive and engaging player experience. I oversee a hybrid team comprising external vendors and an internal environment artist, managing both creative execution and production workflows. My responsibilities span a broad spectrum: I develop visual effects and shaders, craft lighting setups, and handle all technical art implementations. I also integrate music and sound effects, write voiceover scripts, and direct recording sessions. Additionally, I create tutorials and marketing materials to support the products. One of my favorite aspects of the role is building rapid prototypes that bring new ideas to life quickly and iteratively.

Game Development
During my 30 years in game development, I’ve worn many hats. The majority of that time has been as Lead Visual Effects Artist. I’m very tech minded and often serve as the go between art and engineering, working out complex systems like weather and destruction.

Film Photography
I was recently given a Rolleiflex 2.8D and have become fascinated with the whole development process. It’s a passion I share with my son. The square-format negatives present a challenge, but the results are worth it.
Traditional Art
I love the negative impression from a 35mm photo projected onto a canvas. Phone booths are some of my favorite subjects. They tell a story about the person on the phone. This one is a guy just talking to his girlfriend. I also love tropical fish and the idea that we can mix the two.
