Art Director / Principal Artist

As Art Director at Akili Interactive, I led the visual and audio direction across all products, creating cohesive player experiences from concept through final polish. I managed a hybrid team of internal artists and external vendors while contributing hands-on work in animation, VFX, lighting, shaders, technical art, sound integration, tutorials, and marketing materials.

I especially enjoy rapid prototyping to quickly explore and validate new ideas, and I’ve been actively exploring practical uses of AI in the art pipeline, including concept ideation, character development, and accelerated visual iteration.

During my 30 years in game development, I’ve worn many hats, with most of my career focused in senior and principal artist roles. I’m highly technical and often serve as the bridge between art and engineering, helping design and implement complex gameplay and environmental systems such as weather, destruction, and cinematic sequences. I have a strong background in modeling, lighting, camera work, set layout, and real-time storytelling.

Film Photography

My primary camera is a Rolleiflex 2.8D. I’m fascinated with the whole development process. It’s a passion I share with my son. The square format negatives present a challenge, but the results are worth it.

Traditional Art

I love the negative impression from a 35mm photo projected onto a canvas. Phone booths are some of my favorite subjects. They tell a story about the person on the phone. This one is a guy just talking to his girlfriend. I also love tropical fish and the idea that we can mix the two.
