Houdini Tools and RnD

A tool to layout grass and trees in an Akili prototype called Project Ava. This is running inside Unity via the Houdini Engine.

From Mafia 3. I took geo from 3ds Max, cut it up, made it water tight. Brought it into Houdini to sim it, back to Maya for setup and integration into our engine. Added set dressing and VFX, lighting in engine. This is a short clip from one night scene.

This tool was created to layout grass on side terrain along a road for a safari level. I used an ATTVOP to create noise and exposed parameters to drive grass placement. Then I setup a channel ramp to drive the fade along the edge of the road and scale.

A side project over Christmas to learn complex procedural modeling.


Visual Effects RnD

Spent some time learning more 2d and texture work, as well as erosion shaders to eat away at the effects.
